We bought my hot tub from Blackthorne several years ago. The reason we bought from them was because the staff was knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. Since buying from Blackthorne I go to the store a few times a month to get my water tested and to get my chemicals. They have always done everything they could do to make me and my husband feel like we were important to them. Even if it was only our water they were testing. Herbie is such a value to Blackthorne. He always goes the extra mile, even cleaning our filters for us once. We hope he's here to stay:) Malina is genuine and pleasant and really cares. I love the new changes inside the store. The reason they are still going strong is because they're about more then selling a spa. ( Which by the way, WE LOVE!!!). Maybe others could learn from just walking into the store. We purchased our hot tub through Blackthorne in Salinas several years ago. It was a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Herb was our sales rep at the time. I was very impressed with his knowledge and professionalism, not like most sales people who are very pushy. After purchasing the hot tub I've been to the store regularly for products and water testing, and have used their service department. He was kind , patient and extremely professional. My delivery date could not be met so Herbie drove to my house in Morgan Hill to deliver the filters on schedule. I’m a 10 year Marine Corps Vet and a local business owner. For me, first impressions are important. The first time I interacted with them it was with a gentleman named Herbie. He was available, knowledgeable, attentive and thorough. On top of his initial professionalism, he was instrumental to a last minute caper I cooked up to surprise my wife with the Jacuzzi we've been wanting for years and just never ended up getting. Try to put a value on that. My loyalty was won then and there. Before this story was done Herbie had ensured that the tub was dropped off in a timely fashion, set up and dialed in before my wife stepped foot in the house that had not had a Jacuzzi when we were moving in. Well done. It was a big deal.
So, fast forward four months and the housing crunch forces us to move. We relocated to a home believe it or not, with "a great sunken Jacuzzi" so I fostered my tub with a friend who'd always wanted one... and wouldn’t you know it, the tub at our new place was a broken down nightmare. Not good.
I called up Herbie and Blackthorne Spas and you know the drill. Herbie was available, resourceful, attentive and thorough. The whole Blackthorne crew- Malina the owner, Herbie especially, Raul and The rest was solid. As a matter of fact they may all have come to my place at least once on the second job. It was much more complicated than the first exercise and in the process, Herbie facilitated me meeting a tight time line and saved me a significant amount of money by taking the time to research options I didn’t have time for myself. Reread that last line; every word of it is true.

Oh my goodness. Did Blackthorne come through for me! I moved back into my house after my tennants had moved out and did I have a mess. My tenants literally had 30 bottles of chemicals and I didn't know what to do. Based on limited information, Malina advised me what to do. But it didn't quite work out. Then, after a second visit to the shop and more communication I tackled the problem again. Not. So I left a message on Friday night and to my amazement, Herbie came by at 5:30 on a Saturday evening to deal with my problem. Turns out the business where I had purchased the spa from originally, (they are no longer in business) had never instructed me on the "ionizer", and I never had a "silver ion cartridge" like I was supposed to. Herbie has ordered the part and provided me with complete instructions. I can't wait until next week when it all will be up an running. Bottom line, I am getting customer service. I purchased my spa in 2002. I can't tell you how great it has worked out. Being a do it yourself type home owner, this is hte one item that I felt was best left to a professional.
I have been very pleased with the install of the spa, as well as I purchased a gazebo. I used the one year same as cash financing on the parts and labor, and it worked out very well. What I have noticed after the sales is that this company really focuses on after sale service. Willing hassles eitherhen ever there has been a service issue, one call and the service person is at my house, no billing hassles either. Great staff. I highly recommedn using this company. B.
